Tanzania, one of the countries that form the east African region, is home to three of the most famous destinations in Africa; namely Kilimanjaro, Serengeti and Zanzibar archipelago.
Tanzania also has some of the most popular national parks and game reserves in Africa –including Selous National Park , Serengeti National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area .
This explains why the country is one of Africa’s most sought after wildlife safari destinations.
Most people going on safari in Tanzania find it worthwhile to tour the coasts and islands of the country – with Zanzibar Island and Mafia Island being the most sought after destinations along the region.
It is also common for tourists to extend their Tanzania travel to the neighboring Kenya – in what is popularly known as ‘Safari Kenya Tanzania’. In most cases the safari Kenya Tanzania begins in the Serengeti and extends (by road) to the Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya.
Best time to visit Tanzania
Although Tanzania can be visited during all seasons, the best time to go on a safari in Tanzania depends on the focus of your journey. For example, if you intend to go on a Kilimanjaro climbing excursion then you should schedule your trip between Tanzania’s main wet seasons (March – May and November-January).
The coast off Tanzania gets extremely hot during the summer (between late November and March) with temperatures rising above 30°C, and a visit to the region is not recommended during this period- unless you enjoy such weather.
