Mozambique Holidays

Mozambique with a coastline of about 2500km lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean is a very popular holiday destination.

Located on the Eastern coast of Southern Africa, Mozambique is endowed with pristine beaches and a rich marine life that make the country a highlight on any vacation to east or southern Africa.

The best spots for Mozambique holidays are clustered in two areas: the Quirimbas Archipelago in the north and the Bazaruto Archipelago in the south. With beautiful, pristine, white sand beaches and clear tropical waters, the remote Quirimbas Islands are among the world’s most undiscovered islands.

The idyllic Bazaruto Archipelago is without doubt a paradise with its unique wildlife, turquoise waters and pristine beaches. Bazaruto is a perfect place to relax while on Mozambique holidays.

Both the Bazaruto and Quirimbas islands are ideal for family holidays with a lot of interesting things for children to do as well as family-friendly accommodation. The islands have several villas which accommodate four to six people.

While on Mozambique holidays, many tourists combine their holiday with a big game viewing safari in South Africa. Getting to South Africa from Mozambique is hustle free as there are direct flights from Kruger airport (South Africa) to Vilanculos (the entry point to Bazaruto).

Mozambique holidays are never complete without touring the capital Maputo, where visitors catch a glimpse of the local culture. The streets of the city are lined with stunning colonial architecture. And if you’re seeking to learn about the country’s history you should visit Ibo Island – one of the most ancient settlements in Mozambique that dates back to the early 1600′s.

All visitors to Mozambique must have a visa. Visas can be applied at Mozambican embassies worldwide, and cannot be issued on arrival at the country’s ports of entry. Visitors arriving without valid visas are denied entry into Mozambique and put on return flights according to the law.

Mozambique holidays are best during the cool dry season (from May/June to November). During the Easter, Christmas and New Years holidays and to some extent the month of August, the southern resorts get filled up with holiday makers from the neighboring South Africa.
